The winding of the 8-day movements. I've now limited myself to five suchclocks. I currently only own four leaving room for one more --- but it'll need to be something very special and likely a tall case clock now that the wife and I are finally in a long-term home and not liklely to move for at least a decade and a half. Here's one in the current stable. A Chelsea from the early 1920s.

Sweet!

I always wanted to get an eight-day clock or two (a US Navy wall clock comes to mind); besides the money issue, I don't really have a place to put one right now!

What I do have is a Seth Thomas clock (same type case as a US Navy wall clock, in satin nickel finish) with the initials of one of my favorite railroads on the clock face. It probably came off a switchboard at one of their power plants. Ironically, it's not an eight-day mechanism--more like a day-and-a-half one!

That's great. All I have presently is a cookoo that has to be wound every day. I shopped for a nice clock a few years ago but all I could find was "AA" in the stores where I looked. Would like to find a nice mantel clock sometime soon.

Very cool. I remember every week my dad winding the clock on the mantle. I didn't think too much about it then and hadn't thought about it at all til now. Thanks for the memory.
