Don't Wait Until Tomorrow - Act NOW!

Anyone familiar with some of my posts will know that if anything, having a good laugh is prirority one for me. I would like to think I am amongst the most regular contributor to the joke forum. However, it takes some tough times in ones life to make you truly understand and appreciate what life is really all about. I hope if any contributions to CS, this can be my best.

Although not anywhere near what some folks may be experiencing, I have had some real tough times in my personal life lately. One generally tends to put so many things off until tomorrow or until that infamous "some day" that you let so much valuable time just slip away. Valuable time that could never be possibly made up for.

We are all guilty of this to some degree, with some being more proficient at it than others. We always tend to believe the saying "tomorrow is another day". Don't believe that. Take time to enjoy your children today, right now. They grow up fast and you loose them fast. Take time to spend with you elderly loved ones such as parents and grandparents, today. They are perhaps a pain in the #ss at times but stop a minute to wonder what life would be without them. Take time to do all the things you really want to do with them, today.

I am probably going through what I can consider to be the saddest and depressing time of my life and to make matters worst, so is my wife. Fortunately for now, Xanax is a sufficient means to help reduce the edge. Also fortunately, we have had each other for over 29 years and will probably stay together another 29. It certainly helps to have a best friend in the fox hole with you. Not everything is bad and the silver linings are what are keeping us going at this time.

In summary,
1) live life as if today is your last day and don't be guilty of putting anything off.
2) Always look for the silver lining. Believe things happen for a reason and that for every door that closes, one will open somewhere. Keep searching for it and never give up.

Well spoken.
One of my mottos in life is "The glass is always half-full." No matter how tough life gets, there are always things we can be thankful for and feel positive about. It is this approach that keeps my chin up, head high and a smile on my face (most of the time).
Hang in there, brother. You and your wife have each other for support. And your CS family is behind you, as well.

Couldn't agree more bro. Tomorrow is no guarantee and neither is the next breath. I hope things get better for you. You'll be in my prayers.

It's very easy to read the title and say to yourself "Yea that's for sure, I agree 100%". This is what I did when I read your title and post, but the more I sit and think about what you are saying the more I realize that you are so right and I should be doing so much more of what you are pointing out.

Thanks man, I hope whatever is hitting you will only make you stronger!

Re: Don't Wait Until Tomorrow - Act NOW!

very well said.. I am sure that 90% of people claim that they live life for today, only to later think about ti, and realize that they do not.. I think, while i am sorry for what you are goind through, that it takes something bad to happen to someone, to make others realize that they are mortal, and anything can happen at anytime..

I hope that everything works out for you and your wife, as best as it possibly can.. But in the meantime, enjoy each other's company and companionship.. And if you are looking for the silver lining, imagine wherew eaither of you would be without each other.. The true test of a relationship's strength is when turmoil arises.. That is when the individuals involved in building a relationship, combine to strengthen each other..

I'm sorry for what you are going through, but i am glad that you each have each other.. As i am sure you are.

Re: Don't Wait Until Tomorrow - Act NOW!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the well wishes and prayers.
Things will work out as I just see this as a list of obstacles or major inconveniences. Life is full of them and I have had my fine share in the past. This now just happens to feel like a football coach after winning the Super Bowl (being bashed by a barrel of Gatorade - except in that case, it is to celebrate). It is just pouring right now. But as I said earlier, nothing beats being in a fox hole with your best friend (in my case, my wife).

When I read recent threads like Bruce's and what he has gone through, I am a lucky guy. I really am. More than anything, I just felt compelled to share that life is too precious to take for granted. No troubles, no depression, nothing, can or should ever cause you to give up.

I remember a saying at my dojo many years ago when I was into Karate (back when I could actually be flexible). It said that life is like a winding clock, you never know how much it has been wound up. We all need to be reminded of these things and pehaps daily wouldn't be too much.

Wisely said Blueface. Life has away of opening our eyes sometimes and reminding us not to take things for granted.
You have the right attitude, and you and your wife have each other for support. You'll make it through this.

I'm sorry to hear about you going through a hard time, I believe that going through hard times build our character and makes us what we are.
Things will get better, hang in there and thank you for your words that make us stop and think about the real things in life.
