There is a huge difference between two trained fighters and 6 girls on one. I won't defend UFC, and I won't disagree with your choice for you and your kids...but I don't feel it's a fair comparison.

This is horrible, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking this is new or we're sliding down into the depths because of this. I think the video shows the kids are somewhat dumber, this is not something you brag about. But people have been fighting forever, kids have been brutally mean to each other forever, I think the biggest difference is now it's on the news across the country, in video with sound.

My last comment is, as bad as this is (and it's horrible, disturbing)...at least no one picked up a gun and shot anyone. She is still alive. The girls should be made examples of by the courts, and the boys as well. But she's still alive, and with everything going on these days...that's a huge positive.

Nothing funny about this. As mentioned, this wasn't some girl fight after lunch or in a bar, this was a calculated beating. Though, some will say it's all about what kids see today and blame it on what ever they choose, but this isn't the first time it has happened. Look back to '92 at the brutal murder of an Indiana girl, Shanda Renee Sharer, by her peers.

Don't know exactly what I'd do, but just sitting here with a quick thought there'd probably be video and news reports of me beating the hell out of some kids and their parents.

It's sickening.

Not trying to start drama, but put your daughter, mother, sister in that situation. If the one getting BRUTALLY beaten, were one of them, you would see no positives. This girl had a concussion and an eye injury among others. The only positive is that the perpetrators were caught and hopefully will be held accountable.

Had a scary moment today. I had to watch my kids for a while at their mom's house. My son (11) was playing a PS2 game. Found out his mom had gotten him SOCOM2. Not knocking the game. But it is not for an 11 year old. Had a nice little talk, and teaching moment. My ex-wife on the other hand, is oblivious.

I really feel for the victim here. It doesn't matter what was she said or done before this... this was an obscene escalation from whatever may or may not have trigged the reaction. There was no justification for what was done.

There are all sorts of "excessive force" laws in place that can turn the true victim of a crime into the criminal. Someone breaks into your house at midnight and you shoot them... when you turn the lights on, you better hope they carried a weapon or you could get nailed for excessive force.

I'm happy to see those involved charged as adults.... although they behaved more like rabid dogs than adults. Too bad they couldn't be treated accordingly.

I have to be honest here... I'm one of those people that goes onto YouTube to watch amateur fight videos. Not because I'm sick or twisted or anything I'm just a fan of fighting. I like watching MMA fighting and amateur fighting is even more brutal (and in most cases entertaining).

However this incident was very different from the videos I usually watch. This was a planned calculated attack where both parties are not consenting to fight. That is disturbing.

I realize that there is much discussion on the decline of society because of our penchant towards violence but I would caution us not to completely link the two together. In many societies old and modern organized violence is not only acceptable but is sanctioned in many cases. I don't necessarily link organized fighting to the decline of civilized persons as I use myself and friends as a basis for comparison. I highly enjoy fighting and think there is a place and time for it. However I consider myself somewhat cultured as well and generally behave in a gentleman-ly way most of the time.

As with anything else, balance is the key.
