Andres Serrano's "The Morgue" photos.

WARNING: Be careful before you google these images. Some of them are quite intense, but they meet my definition of "Great Art". To me, "Great Art" is something that changes you to the core after seeing it for the first time.

Re: Favorite work of art?

I've been a fan of Escher's work since I was a wee-one. His impossible buildings are great, but some of his abstract landscapes are fascinating, as well.

Aside from M.C., A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande-Jatte was always one of my favorites. Edvard Munch's The Scream has always stood out for me.

I'm a Helmut Newton fan ever since I saw a display of his works at a Gallery in NYC.

A Vargas fan also.

This one is one of my favorites. It's by Edouard Manet. I am also a Monet nut. Love his works.

This painting also features one of my favorite works of art... a couple of bottles of Bass Ale!

Sweet never noticed the bass ale before. Definitely a fantastic painting.

Quite a number of impressionist paintings in this thread. For those that don't know, if you like impressionist paintings and find yourself in Paris you have to check out the collection at the Musee d'Orsay. Pretty much the premiere collection that I know of.

Re: Favorite work of art?

In Munich, in Marienplatz, just inside Micaelskirsch (ST Michaels church) there is a statue of an angel holding a basin, that holds the holy water. It is FABULOUS but I haven't been able to track down a picture of it, and the ones I took were sadly lost
