Club Stogie Banned!!!

I am a college student who lives on campus ,and two days ago I was getting on Club stogie to check the posts and before I got to the sight a blocked message came up telling me I couldn't see this sight because it contained explicit material (tobacco Products ). I was so outraged I went to the IT department at our school and verbalized my frustrations...Needless to say for once my bantering paid off and today I am happily surfing club stogie again. Just wanted to tell of my small victory

Wow, the mere fact that the administration thought they could block a site is the big issue.

When I worked for American University IT, they discussed blocking access to file sharing sites, and also repeatedly got calls from the RIAA about students on our network sharing MASSIVE amounts of media.
It came down to a bandwidth issue.

We eventually decided NOT to block sites and to instead limit bandwidth on those types of applications during daylight hours and registration dates. Nightime hours were a free for all, but the software would target the biggest hogs and lower the bandwidth alloted to them.

We only complied with the RIAA by directly contacting those students and telling them to disable file sharing or the RIAAA might become involved.

I ALWAYS supported the students right to view and do ANYTHING on the net. A University is meant to learn, research, and experience. How can they do that if you limit what they have access to research?

I am actually a sophmore at Spartanburg Methodist college in Spartanburg south carolina, but I am attending clemson in the fall
