"Earth Friendly" Household Cleaners

In case you haven't noticed in the stores or in their commercials, retail giants like Target and Wal-Mart are now making "Earth Friendly" household cleaners to keep up with SC Johnson. Am I the only one that see the irony in the fact that the "Earth Friendly" cleaners are still in plastic bottles?

Plastic can be made to be biodegradable and is much safer than glass in the areas of the home where these cleaners might be used. Plastic can also be recycled as it is in my town.

There is, of course, some controversy over the idea that we waste more energy recycling plastics (or paper, or cardboard, etc...) than we save by recycling them.

So the whole "Earth-friendly" idea may be a bit of a circular quagmire.

Agreed, this also applies to ethanol. The folks who insist on recycling and biofuel do not want to hear these facts.

The plastic containers really stink up the yard when I throw them in the bonfire! But hey, someone has to counteract the greenies...you know...the whole ying and yang thing.

Ethanol is HUGE swindle. Just like corn syrup, it's an industry built around giving corn farmers something to do. Now food prices for many food prices (like dough) are going up because these farmers are consumed with making ethanol, which is no cleaner, better, or "earth-friendlier" than regular fuel.

Call me a wacko, but it's just my . I did see the front cover of Time referring to ethanol as a huge scam not too long ago though.

Vinegar and baking soda will take care of a lot of household duties. Bottles should be recycled, of course, just like paper and cardboard boxes or glass.
