Re: Bring on the stress..

Just finished one repro system exam; another this friday. One OPP writen exam last week; practical next tuesday. Officially done with written exams this friday in my first 2 yrs of med school. Then 2 more years to go. But at least that's rotations and away from this damn town I'm stuck in right now. Oh yeah, national board exam June 20th which I've not had time to study for (have to cram 2 years worth of info in my head in 1 month, not gonna happen).

So I'm feelin ya! Good luck!!! PS, get sleep. I've done one all nighter, never gonna do it again. It really does hurt you in the long run (medical opinion!)

Re: Bring on the stress..

I rarely did all nighters. It got so late that what I was studying was not going anywhere. Get some sleep (even a few hours) and get something to eat. You'll feel better and be more efficient. Good luck!

Re: Bring on the stress..

I just have to ask, when was all of this assigned? Did these professors pile this on at the last minute, or did you just wait until the last minute?

Either way, good luck and God speed, and I agree with getting some sleep, at least a couple of hours.

Re: Bring on the stress..

I hear ya bud.
My fiance is in Finals week of getting her MBA.

While I do enjoy my man time and relaxing evenings, the dog and I sure miss her.
I feel bad for her when she has to wake up when I do @ 4am just to work on a paper.

Her Business ethics professor gave them a 20 page paper due in 26 hours.

Woof.

When it's all over, have a nice mellow cigar to calm your nerves.

He should be required to grade them all under the same deadlines.

you have a darn good point there my friend, I have known about all of them for quite a while. I'm a procrastinator when it comes to papers. So yes, I brought it on myself.
But at the same time, the papers require all knowledge from throughout the class. And classes aren't over until Friday! also, we get so much darn work to do in the first place, that its hard to work on it earlier in the semester. School work is exhausting in the first place. (thats my excuse at least)

Aside from all the joking,
For proof that the stress is getting to people, a member of the Marquette community unfortunately commited suicide in the past week. A 39 year old dental student. Supposedly he had a history of depression, and this stuff can sometimes just tip you over the edge.

RIP

Really? I haven't heard about this yet... I also haven't looked at the school paper in the last week if it was in there.

Re: Bring on the stress..

yep, in the paper. I was surprised to, because it showed his name and everything. I would think the family would want to keep the fact that he committed suicide as low key as possible, and worry more about the grieving process.

He had a wife and kids as well.

sad story

Re: Bring on the stress..

Like I said before:

"Either way, good luck and God speed, and I agree with getting some sleep, at least a couple of hours."

No accusations, as I have engaged in my fair share of procrastination, and I learned my lesson the hard way. I'm just glad I learned it in school and not the real world. Do get some sleep though, you will be much better able to tackle the mountain of work you are staring at.

Re: Bring on the stress..

Maybe this is a bit of revisionist history, but as a guy 3 years out of college, I would trade the daily grind/stress of a 5-6 day a week 60 hour workweek for the quarterly all nighters I pulled in college any day of the week.

When this is all over you will have some relaxation time to look forward to and then a fresh start at the start of the next term.

Re: Bring on the stress..

My final paper for school is due this week. The paper is no where near as important as yours though, our prof. wanted us to wite the paper on moshing and what makes people mosh. Easy to write about and interesting as well.

I also have 3 other final tests one in Anatomy & Phys., Health & Wellness, and Algebra.

Can't wait for summer though, oh wait I can I have summer classes (Physics)
