I give Vince Flynn for modern fiction.

If you have siblings that you hated until you got older (or maybe you got along great with them), and even if you don't have siblings. Three weeks with my Brother by Nick Sparks is a pretty good read.

Re: Books you would recommend

While you're in a Dickens book, catch Tale of Two Cities.

Moby Dick

Count of Monte Christo

Lord of the Rings trilogy

Crime and Punishment

any decent compilation of Poe's work

If you like westerns and want easy reading, try to find Clarence Mulford's original Hopalong Cassidy books; much better than L'Amour.

Non fiction: D-Day by Ambrose, Japan's War by Hoyt, 1776 by McCullough, Angel in the Whirlwind by Bobrick, The Discoverers by Boorstein.

A few I've really enjoyed:

Undaunted Courage, Steven Ambrose
Into Thin Air, John Krakauer
The Name of the Rose, Umberto Eco

I read a lot of Sean Hannity, but I think you'd like American Psycho. It's a bit rough around the edges, but it's one of the best narratives around!

Re: Books you would recommend

Anything by William Faulkner. Start w/ his less complicated stuff (Sound and the Fury, short stories, As I Lay Dying are good starts). His masterpiece, although I wouldn't recomend starting w/ this as it is very complex and complicated is Absolom, Absolom!

Re: Books you would recommend

As mentioned before, Gatsby is good. Anyting by Hemmingway is good. Huck Finn, Great Expectations, and Shoeless Joe (the novel that Field of Dreams was based off of) are all good.

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison is good.
