Horrid breath morning after a nice cigar...

OK, so I am somewhat a newb here. I started the cigar hobby about half a year ago. Kind of reminds me of my father alot, so it is somewhat of a spiritual experience.

Having quit smoking 5 years ago, I am amazed how I don't get cravings for cigars or other nicotine.

In any way, here is my dilema. When I used to smoke cigarettes, I good tooth brushing and some scope made prevented any bad breath in the morning.
But looks like that does not work with cigars.
I love my wife and I am greatful she puts up with me smelling like cigars once a week, but I would like to not assault her with bad cigar breath 6AM in the morning.

Any advice on proper higene after cigars to prevent that bad breath in the morning. Denitine ice chewing gum, 3 minute brushing, and scope does not seem to work.

Maybe it the toothpaste you are using. I dont have cigar morning breathe after a good brush. You probably need a better toothpaste. Also after brushing be sure to use a rinse to give that extra fresh breathe.

I have always felt that it depends on the cigar... some just react differently than others... of course after 6 cigars in one evening nothing helps me...

I used to have this problem too, i.e. I would wake up any morning after I had smoked even one cigar and I could still taste the cigar. But that was back when I smoked them too fast. So slow down, waaaaaaaaaaaaay down, and enjoy the smoke, it should stay cool and will not cause you to have bad breath the next morning. Since I sloooooooooooooowed down, I have not had this kind of problem ever since!!!!

Get yourself a tongue scrapper and use it after you brush. After you have brushed scrap those little taste buds clean....

I have that problem with certain cigars. Brush that toung good..Helps some, but all in all, shes just gonna have to get used to the smell and you should smoke really good sticks and more of them. Im sure you will, in time.We all did. Welcome to the Jungle

I brush my tongue and use that mint glide floss, and it works good for me. Oh, and if you have whiskers, you better wash your face 'cause I think a goatee can hold a hell of a lot of stale smokey smells.

I let my rottweiler lick my tongue and I get no bad breath...the girls don't seem to mind and she loves the taste I guess..

i have found that some cigar leave a stronger aftertaste than others. so i think a bit of experimental smoke\hygiene is in order.

Good morning and welcom to Club Stogie. Since I have taken the advice about slowing down, my cigars have cooled way down, throat doesn't feel abused and I don't wake up with that lovely ash tray dry mouth anymore. Of course, my body may have just built up resistance/tolerance to the cigars.
