San Antonio
Sorry I haven't posted much on this board, but I have a question for all the peeps down in the San Antonio area. I'll be relocating my family down there about a year from now and would like to get some perspective on certain areas to really focus on. So far we've thought about the northeast corridor (from Live Oak to New Braunfels) as one of the better areas. Basically, we're looking for good schools and quiet neighborhoods for our kids which is why we're looking in the burbs. Anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated...that and it would be nice to know some BOTL down that way so I can herf after the move is completed!

Re: San Antonio
Consider where you are going to work, San Antonio is a HUGE town, 8th largest in the US last time I heard and considerably larger than most in square miles. The 1604 loop is over 100 miles long.
I worked smack downtown when I was there, and the rush hour commute from Cibolo (NE Corridor up I35, over 20 miles for me) was 20-30 minutes, 45 max with an accident. The same trip from Bourne would take an hour at best. The housing costs on the NW and N side are considerably more than the NE corridor. Taxes in Guadalupe county were considerably lower than Bexar county, as were insurance costs. The schools in Schetz/Cibolo were very good, but I would look at Cibolo or more north as being a better value/cost ratio. YMMV...as always....Bourne is a beautiful town. I left in Feb 2007, so things may have changed a bit.
