Are Sleeper Cells For Real?

Dunno about anyone else, but in my day-to-day life I dont really think about whether or not a terrorist attack might happen in the mall I'm shopping at. Maybe I should? I saw the pilot for a new series coming to showtime this sunday (cuz i work there) and it's about a sleeper terrorist cell operating right in Los Angeles. It's creepy how these guys live just like you and me - they're plans are so secret that the FBI can't even know on their own.

Do you think this is happening in real life? If so I think I might just do my holiday shopping online this year. Or am I just being silly and overreacting? With something so touchy it seems like there's no for sure defense against it

Don't give these terrorist punks what they want. They want you scared. Show them you aren't by going about your normal tasks. These jerks have to know it's a fools game to try and intimidate us. It cost them two buddy regimes last time they did it. I imagine Iran and Syria are like, guys let's be cool about this. You know Iran and Syria can call off these dogs.

In my opinion you should just live your life as normal. If possible try to use the "fear" you have to realize a way to make this world a better place. Otherwise go on doing what you do because there are plenty of non-terrorist under-the-media-hype types out there that peddle evil undercover just as effectively if not better than terrorist cells.

This world is a balance. There will never be Good without Evil.

Go about your normal business, but go about it heavily armed. Not only keeps you safer from terrorists, but also shortens the lines quite a bit.

And yes, sleeper cells are for real. I live a half hour from the Buffalo desert (Lackawanna).

Even a Desert Eagle doesn't really defend you from a bomb. I don't think the way to fight something like this is to have a bunch of trigger happies running around. Understanding and peace do not happen through instant empowerment. Education and awareness (I know you said keep your eyes open) are the biggest tools we can use to fight something so nebulous.

Hello? 7th of July? Do sleeper cells exist? Yes. A guy who was a teaching aid at a primary school was the leader of the 4 bombers. Do I live in fear? No. What's the frigging point of living in fear? I'm not scared of dying... It's gonna happen someday, so lets have fun until that day. If some religious freaks wanna shuffle off faster in the hope of getting into some heaven somewhere, well, I don't condone that action, I think they're quite misguided personally. If they take me with them... well, I'll be dead, so I'm not really gonna know. If I'm one of those who survives, well, I'll cross that bridge when, and if, ever I come to it.

Being that numerous cells have already been busted (some publicly), and as Lumpold mentioned, one was successful in attacking London, it's pretty obvious they are out there. Many are in jail now and many more have been quietly interrogated and deported after being caught reconnoitering targets or other suspicious activity.

Like others have said, be aware, be prepared and go on living life.

its all a bunch of bullshit, keep living your life to the fullest. if a terrorist bomb doesnt kill you something else will. trust me, everyone is going to die, so live well while you can! i enjoy everyday to the fullest, but im also aware of everything around me. the real terrorists in my eyes are the murderers, drug dealers, and robbers that effect your everyday life.

Yeah, it is. I got the same post (although from a different user name) on my Horrorview forum. We get these sorts of "wow, you wouldn't believe the movie I saw the other day" posts all the time.
