Grilling gone bad !

Last weekend the wife and I were hosting a yard full of family and guests for a graduation party. As usual I was the master griller. The hot food selection included hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, baked beans and corn on the cob. I had 2 grills going and had corn on the cob in melted butter simmering in one along with a pan of onions, peppers, butter and beer. Some how I knocked the pan off the grill and it hit my ankle. Trust me the photo is not for the faint of heart so I provide a link with the following warning:

Click at your own risk, I provide it simply to show burning yourself is serious and please don't make the same mistake I did.

It still hurts but its different pain now. Sleeping was the worst for the first few nights. Every time I would start to fall asleep I would move it and wake up. Been saving your sticks. 1 gets fired up tonight and another tomorrow. I have been saving them for when I can sit and enjoy the races. I still cant get over how good that bb unit sounds

No I did not go to the ER, against the wishes of everyone. I have been cleaning it and changing the bandages every 4 hours or so. Been watching it for infection and if it starts to off I go in a minute

Yea, being so wide open like that i'd be afraid of infection

So how did the food turn out?

Nope, they all come for the brats. I ripped my socks and shoes off and my brother and son started cleaning up the mess and trying to get me to go to the ER. I stepped in glass with the other foot flipping the burgs and brats. At one point my son is trying to clean my leg, my brother is trying to wrap it with a ice water towel and the wife is freaking out in the background. When I got everything off the grill we went to the local pharmacy for cleaning supplies.

Everyone left full, bragging about the bratwurst and patting me on the back.

Ahhh another successful cookout

Chas

Re: Grilling gone bad !

Wasn't going to click ... sounded too much like something I'd do. But, the wife walked in and she wanted to see it. Ewww.

You painted the picture, there you are being the tough guy while chaos surrounds you ... I can almost see it now.

Dude ... if you even THINK that it's getting infected, go see a doc.

Yep - that's gonna leave a mark. Sorry to see that - be careful with it as burns can get infected pretty easy.
