Moving Blues..

Does anyone hate moving as much as I do? I highly doubt there is anyone that actually likes to move. I'm in college, and the landlords around here charge way higher rent then what it should be. Not to mention they rent out each level of the house, god forbid a landlord rents out an entire house to someone ( basement and attic ). We just recently moved, and the reason was because our old landlords son is moving back to town to go to college. So after two years of paying on time we had to move.. Luckily we ( Wife & I ) found a GREAT house that actually just got remodeled which is VERY rare in this town. Rat holes everywhere, and way over what they are worth. Not to mention landlords NEVER pour money into a house to make it look better, or to replace broken items.

We do have a two car garage now, instead of a nail infested shed. Which I need some sort of cover as we both have motorcycles. And we also have the basement, which is unfinished but at least we have cover from tornadoes. Considering we are in tornado alley I cannot believe landlords rent each level out seperatly. I hate unpacking stuff, and with 102 degree heat it was great! Anyways our new landlord seems alot nicer, and considering how well they take care of the house and hospitality it'll be a better relationship then with our old landlord.

Anyways I just had to vent, I can't stand the landlords in this college town. And I hate moving, unpacking boxes and finding crap that we never use. Hopefully this is the last time we have to move for awhile, if I have to move again I'm just going to suck it up and buy a house!

Least I have a porch now too I can smoke stogies on with my feet propped up on the railing. And a HUGE front & backyard.

Hey Shawn,

I guess its moving up. The house is alot better then where we were at. But its still wasting money away on rent! Its crazy how much money is tossed away while renting.

I am on the same street, except new address is 831. So I'm super close to campus now, which is a plus.

Re: Moving Blues..

And now Cox Cable steps up the plate to make moving even worse. No cable, and terrible internet service - Can't be that while setting up a new house!

Re: Moving Blues..

I hate to move. My wife and I have lived in several different houses over our nearly two and a halh decades together. The old Army generally assured such; HOWEVER, if you don't move, you'll never get to experience new cities, new locales, and new countries as can only occur by moving and living there. So while I never liked to move, I'd have never traded what we experienced for having had the opporunity to move so much.

Re: Moving Blues..

Since I have been on my own since age 16 and having served over 22 years to our great country (still in), I have lived (outside of deployments) in 24 houses. I hate it too.

Re: Moving Blues..

I have to agree. I like moving.

I have moved a little over 20 times in the last 12 years. I don't like the act of moving. It sucks to have your stuff boxes. Having to try and make furniture that fit in my old living room fit in my new one, having to move my kingsize bed, and most of all the money you just throw away doing it all.

But on the otherhand I like new places too. I like meeting cool neighbors, I like finding that little bar in town that makes you feel like you have been there before, going out on a saturday with my family and getting lost some place new.

I have found after about a year I have gotten to place to where I want to move to see someplace new and what it has to offer.
