Health Insurance

Is anyone involved in this business?

I've been looking and am having a heck of a time finding any sort of plan for an individual (I won't be going through an employer or group) that isn't for low income.

All I'm looking for is a plan that will help me out if I'm in an accident, come down with the triple herpes, or something similar.

Every individual plan I've seen has been capped at 250% of the poverty line.

Any help would be much appreciated

Re: Health Insurance

I sold health insurance for about 4-5 months....I would check into Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Humana, they always had the best coverage. If I can remember I think the site to check into some good plans is www.ehealthinsurance.com. Hope that helps

I am single and I have the Medical Mutual SuperMed One plan. My employer pays for it.

Re: Health Insurance

My individual health insurance policy is through Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Quite affordable ($149/month with $2,500 deductible).
They didn't even ask if I used tobacco products.

Thanks guys.

The only available plan at through them is through GHI. $390/month, no deduct.

I'd like to get with BC/BS but they dont seem to have anything. The only thing Humana offered was $340/month with a $1500 deductible

What a PITA!

$390 with no deductible is great; read the fine print, though, and make sure it isn't capped at some unreasonably low amount. A serious disease requiring extensive treatment or surgery like a transplant would get to a couple hundred thousand pretty quickly.

Did you check the plan available with Costco's Exec membership?

Re: Health Insurance

I am an agent in Vermont. Health insurance varies greatly from state to state due to different state laws. Go HERE for a good overview in NY. There is a state program called Healthy NY which you may be eligible for.

Re: Health Insurance

When I was between full-time jobs I had a plan with Golden Rule.

http://www.goldenrule.com/

It was around $150/month with $2500 total per year deductible.

Unfortunately, most every individual program is a part of Healthy NY, which I am not eligible for.
