One aspect of this that has not been addressed is how the Air Marshall now feels. Taking someone's life is not an easy thing to do. He is the real one dealing with the ramifications of seeing things 20/20 in hind sight. If you do not think he is asking himself " what if I.... " then he isn't human. I agree that from what I have read it needed done. And I support him 100%. He made the right call. Wife yelling about the idiot not on his on meds and all. Who knows, she could have been helping set up a distraction long enough for him to set a bomb off if he would have had one and they were working together. The Air Marshal did not have the time we all do to sit back and think through the situation. He had a few seconds to figure out if it was real or not. And in that situation and on an aircraft and you tell me you got a bomb, I am going to believe it and end the threat NOW.
