Stir Crazy and the Toy! My 2 favorite Pryor movies, of course having Gleason and Wilder as co-stars just added to these great movies. Richard you will sorely be missed. No more suffering for you my friend. Now go knock 'em dead in Heaven.

He was funny as hell, he was edgy ... he was ahead of his time - I hadn't heard of freebase cocaine (= crack) before his "accident".

May he go to his just reward. God, I remember sitting around the campfire in Boy Scouts, one of the kids always brought his boombox with him and we'd bring our Richard Pryor and Cheech and Chong tapes. Stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning, all the while using the fire to light our....errrr, never mind.

For the snake skit and other hilarity, find a copy of the VHS Richard Pryor: Live in Concert. It's definitive Pryor.
From an Amazon review: "There are also plenty of brutally honest stories about Pryor's life with his father, ranging from his father's death in mid-coitus ("he came and went at the same time"), to the one time Pryor stood up to his old man ("It wasn't really a fight, but I did the best I could"), and their time hunting together ("I hated being the dog")."
