Re: Drunken man tries to fill his car with jet fuel
Cars won't run of jet fuel unless this joker has a diesel engine in his car. Jet fuel is like kerosene, not gasoline.
Aviation fuel for small, piston engine airplanes is typically "100 (octane) low lead," last I knew anyway. There is something very wrong with this article, most likely the writer has no clue about the difference between aviation fuel and jet fuel. Here's another one with more wrong information but at least it doesn't say "jet fuel." http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_10030246 During the late 1970's when the gas stations were completely out of gas, I had a friend who worked at the local airport and we ran 100 low lead in our cars. Yep, it was more expensive but we needed gas. However back then, our cars were burning "regular" leaded gasoline. I think the guy here who says that the lead will warp your valves if full-o-crap. ![]() |

Peter Griffin on the Family Guy did that, it didn't work too well for him. (cartoon or not, I don't think it's a good thing to try!)

Re: Drunken man tries to fill his car with jet fuel
I remember when I worked on the ramp at a few airports that everyone told me that 100LL actually had less lead in it than unleaded or something like that. I always mixed it with some regular gas and my bike ran great!

![]() Very true, it was a funny story just the same! Actually though, the guy PAID for the gas with his credit card. Now if he had stolen the gas, he'd be in a whole lot more trouble. Now granted a DWI is more serious than a speeding ticket BUT having to defend oneself against a larceny charge is a whole lot worse. |
