A Fresh Perspective

I’ve been away from the jungle for about a week and return with a renewed outlook on life. My wife received a call last week that my son’s house burned to the ground. I was on a plane within 3 hours.

It turns out that he wasn’t home when it happened and that we learned about it before he even knew. His three roommates, who were asleep at the time, are lucky to be alive.

One immediately realizes that all the personal belongings so many of us strive for are meaningless when compared to the love for family and friends. The community where he attends college came together for them in a remarkable way.

This Christmas will be a special one for our entire family, may you all share special time with yours.

It's a good thing he wasn't there. He can recover from any loss of property and maybe learn not to depend on it too much.

Glad everyone is ok. You and he can replace everything in the house but you cannot replace your family.

Reno, glad to hear nobody was hurt! I'm sure it was a shock especially to your son but as you said...everything can be replaced...as long as it's just "stuff"

Agreed. Stuff is nothing more than just that. Sorry to hear of the misfortune and glad that everyone is OK.
