The Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease

I get alot of people in the U.S. who want to know if they really exist...etc. They really do, and in fact the populations are declining rapidly due to the Tasmanian Devil Tumor Disease-it's a terrible disease and as far as I know, they really have no idea how it's caused. The dept of wilslife have quarantined huge numbers, but the long term survival isn't known just yet.

On that enviromental note, I saw a documentary on Cane Toads. It was quite the movie. Are they still a problems in Australia?http://www.amonline.net.au/factsheets/canetoad.htm

Well that's kind of sad. I'm a bit lost on the "How you can Help" section. It says that if you see a sick one to check it out. What do they mean, check it out. I'm guessing one could rip thru your arm. I'll call the animal people.

What about the wild cat problem. I seen a documentary on the stray cat problem since they weren't a natural animal in the country and they screwed like rabbits and stread like a disease. They wild cats also put a hurting on the smake population, which was a concern.

It's sad to hear the Tasmanian Devil is at risk. It has long been one of my favorite animals, thanks to the Looney Tunes.

You gotta remember ky, this is a continent full of Steve Irwins. Just because it can rip your arm off gives it a little excitement to them.

Yeah, imagine that...getting close enough to one to inspect it... determine sex...not a chance! That's an animal rescue job if I ever heard of one. Even injured or filled with tumors, they are still a dangerous lilttle thing.

I'm not so sure about the cane toads, they brought them in in Northern Australia(Queensland), and they spread south all the way to Sydney and beyond. Here in Tazzie, It's a little too cold for them.
