Ninja Vanish turns off some feature that makes the phone search for cell coverage on an automatic basis. Says when in weak cell areas, or no service (like inside buildings), this searching takes place often, and used to really drain his battery. I have no idea what the actual function is he turns off. Maybe someone more techno-able can elaborate.

I think every cellphone number has an email address associated with it. I have people email pix to me- works just fine. example: (your number)@txt.att.net or (your mobile phone number)@vtext.com.

Well, for what it is worth, the original iPhone had push email as well even before 2.0 software it just didn't have enterprise support. Anyway the push has sucked the past two months so even though I keep it on push slot of times it doesn't update my mail until I manually check it.

Yes but it isn't as good as being able to actually send mms.

Basically, to send pics you have to email them to someone and when someone sends you a pic by text you get tested a website and password to view it. Kind of sucks but I still like the phone overall.

Yeah this really sucks. Considering before it was automatic.

Re: Iphone G3 battery life...

I picked up an iPhone 3G on launch day, came from an AT&T Tilt. I have Exchange push, WiFi, and Bluetooth enabled 24/7, and I make it through a full day, only have to charge at night. It wasn't like that when I first got it, took a couple weeks of charging to get conditioned well. Just updated to the 2.0.1 firmware, and GPS is even quicker now...so far doesn't seem to have changed anything with the battery life. No complaints from me though...

Never been an Apple fan, but this phone rocks my Tilt in pretty much all areas.

Interesting. I have a brand new iPod Touch and the battery seems to run down quicky. (2 albums on iTunes and battery is below half ) If conditioning works, I'll just have to be patient.

Re: Iphone G3 battery life...

I don't own an iPhone but cruising through CNET today there was a piece on maximizing the battery:

A lot of it was already mentioned in posts above.
