I know this might be an unpopular theory but:

I think that we all want to believe we would step in and help. I know I think I would, but until any of us are actually faced with the situation how will any of us ever know. I for one, would prefer to think that most of us won't be put in a situation to stop a raging lunatic, but they are out there. What would any of us do? I don't think you can answer the question truthfully without actually being faced with it in a real situation, not a hypothetical one.
Based on the eyewitness accounts, the poor victim was likely dead before anyone knew what was going on or could react to save him. I'll cut the passengers some slack, as it doesn't sound like any of them had law enforcement or combat training. Keeping your head in a crisis like this is extremely hard to do without the proper training. The wisest course of action was to gtf out of the guy's range. Sounds like the bus driver was astute enough to disable the bus and contain the guy. Good on him.

I've been involved in two life/death situations, and fortunately I'm satisfied with both of my reactions during those crises. We all imagine that we'd be macho and protective but you can't know for sure until you're faced with it. I hope it's nothing anyone has to go through. All joking aside (above,) I do feel sorry for the victim's family.

the passenger that was interviewed stated the driver somehow disabled the bus so he could not drive it away and some of the passengers (including the interviewee) grabbed some tire irons and what not and blocked him from getting off of the bus. so even though they did not intervein whith the guy stabbing the other guy, they still did something to prevent him from doing it to anyone else or getting away.

I think everyone of us would have wanted to somthing, myself included, I thought the same thing.{what a bunch of pussies} But none of us were there. Seeing somthing that crazy might have had me run the other way. Either way I'm still baffled by this...... It is sad that there are people this disturbed in our world. Toughts and prayers go out to Tims friends and family...and to the sickos wife and kid, whos world also just crashed around them.

Thats a perfect example of "the right to carry" a few passengers could have unloaded a couple of 45 rounds into this sick ****...and game over no trial no insanity plea no milking the system of tax dollars, just justice...what he deserves........

Turns out the killer had sold a laptop to a local teenager for $60, just prior to the horrendous murder. The poor kid lost his laptop to the forensics guys - but kept his life thank God. I bet that kids parents are in complete shock and thanking the big guy.

Re: Man beheads fellow passenger on Canadian bus

Now we'll hear interminable stories about the poor killer not getting a second bowl of cereal as a kid- it was his parents' fault, after all- he is just a poor, misguided human being that went temporarily insane when thinking about his evil family- and evil society doing so little about global warming, bla, bla, bla! He'll end up in a mental hospital with three squares a day and all the p0rn he cares to watch on cable TV!

Yup - and there's no specified therapy or time in an institution required for “insane” offenders. The best we can hope for is the victims fellow 'carnies' shiv this guy.

[EDIT] I take that back... apparently the guy asked the judge repeatedly to 'please kill me'. I say let him live with his guilt.
