That's the benefit of living in Detroit. Actually, that's the ONLY benefit of living in Detroit. We get to see all of the Big 3 cars on the road first.

Re: Going home present to myself (Mustang Lovers click here!)

@ Loki- So which Vette do you have? Is mtb996's a Z01 or is it just a pic of a Z01?

I obviously haven't driven it yet and don't even know all the 'beyond Roush Stage 3' add ons it has, so I can't say for sure who I'll be able to beat, but even with my '03 Cobra I never got beat by a Z06. Now I've been playing on the streets long enough to know that without a driver having the right equipment (cojones) the fastest car in the world ain't gonna beat me!

So I'll concede that there will be plenty of cars that could show me their tail lights, but there's soooo many more who will be looking at mine!

Once I get it to the speed shop for a once over I'll post all the specifics.

there is no vette called a z01, and I guess you missed the part of my post where I said that I have a 99 mustang. And mtbs car is a base engine vette, perhaps even a z51 so it has either the LS2 or the LS3

The 03 cobra and a blown 2v are totally different cars. Depending on when you got rid of the old cobra (assuming a two year deployment) you will not have run up across the C6 Z06 yet and the LS3 is now pumping out about what a blown 2v will make. a blown 2v will probably run mid 12s in the quarter mile

Why is one seat red? Was the pair originally black?
I'm sure it's plenty fast! I didn't look close enough at any pics to see if it was IRS, I just assumed it wasn't since Roush modded GTs and they're solid.

I have no idea why the owner did that, and since I'm getting it from a wholesaler, they can't say either. I'm guessing he got a deal on one of them?

Re: Going home present to myself (Mustang Lovers click here!)

Mine's a standard vette (08, so LS3). It does have Z51 (gearing, suspension, coolers, etc.) and I added a Borla catback for sound, but otherwise, just a plain old 3300lb 436HP grocery getter.

Mine will run low 12s. A Z06 (505HP) will run mid 11s and the new ZR1 (638HP) will be in the low 11s/ high 10s. All on std tires, so take off some for DRs. These new cars are so fast, they are scary.

I know mustang cobras can handle a ton of boost and therefore can get pretty fast, but stock for stock it would be a joke.

If we're talking modified, Roush and Saleen can make really nice rockets out of mustangs and Lingenfelter and Callaway can make monsters out of vettes.

For me, I'm actually thinking long tube headers, CAI, tune for about 40HP, then adding a head/cam package next year for another 100HP. HP is addictive!

By the way, that photo of mine is from the Tail of the Dragon (US129 between TN and NC). If you are anywhere near this area, it is the best driving road I have ever experienced - look it up on the web for info and videos - its a killer piece of road (318 turns in 11 miles!).

That is a beautiful stretch of road! I'll definitely keep it in mind if I'm ever anywhere near that area.

I practically got sea sick watching some of the bike videos on You Tube!
