Well the fair started today and I can't be happier. I love the Iowa State Fair. The food, the people watching (Like Bill Engvall says if you ever are feeling down about your self, just go to the fair and look around) and the food.

Anyone else from the area going? I will be there at least 3 days this year.

I have lived in Iowa for 13 years now and have never once gone to the fair. Just can't bring myself to spend $5 for a soda and another $3 for a deep fried twinkie. Maybe it is just the foreigner in me...

Then again when I was living in Germany I only made one trip to the Oktoberfest as well so maybe I am just anti-social...

Laugh. Yeah it is expensive but I still get sucked in. I just can't resist the pork chop on a stick.

Went last year, and honestly, it was just too much work with the little kids. It could be fun to walk around if it was just me and the wife, but the constant potty breaks, and keeping the girls from getting overheated stressed us out more than it relaxed us.

In a few more years though it should be a good time.

I have to agree wholeheartedly. I have four kids and to get all of them together and listening all at the same time is workout all on it's own...

I'll probably go twice...Monday and next Friday. Just me and the lady, if I had to deal with kids, I probably wouldn't go either.

I'm a fatty so I, of course, go for the food (not the deep fried twinkies, gross)

Come on guys, be like the reset of the masses; drop your kids off at the water fountain place between the agri building and the pavilion and let someone else watch them (yea right).

Anyway the best people watching day is the day they designate as "eastsider day" (usually the first Friday of the fair and after 5:00 pm only the best come out).

On the better side, one must try the Zag's sausage sandwich, Campbell's corndog, and Bauder's ice cream.

Yep, today is Eastsider Night. I have class so I won't be making it

I will be there tomorrow night and Sunday though.

Was there tonight for about 3 hours. Took my daughter down the big slide, had a pork chop on a stick, split a gyro with my wife and a cup of cookies with my wife and daughter. We will be there again tomorrow.

Actually it wasn't to bad. We got in for free due to some free tickets. The wife had some garage sale money and used that for food. We spent about 45 bucks.

Went again today, but it was on Wells Fargo's dime as it was Wells Fargo day so we go in free again and had 24 bucks in food coupons. We spent money on some food and some rides for the daughter.
