I made it to Alaska!!
Hello everyone! As most of you know, I was offered and accepted a teaching job in Fairbanks, AK...well, I'm here! I am staying in a pretty ghetto hotel for a few weeks, then I get to move into my apartment. I just wanted to check in and say hello to my friends here at CS. Life might be getting pretty busy for me up here in AK and I am not sure how much I'll be around. If you are interested at all about my trip up here and stories of my first year teaching, I started a blog. There are LOTS of pictures as well Check it out if you want. It is called "Waking up in Alaska."

If you get time take a drive (about 6hrs) or flight to Anchorage. I was stationed there for 3 yrs, I love AK. Also check out some Halibut charters and Salmon fishing. Alaska is great, Fairbanks sucks though.

So far...it's nothing spectacular. Kinda small, very rainy, and not to pretty. However, everyone I have meet has been VERY nice and helpful. Also, I am about 150 miles form Denali National Park, so I'm good

My little sister is stationed up there at Eielson AFB. I went to Eielson for 2 1/2 weeks about 3 years ago. How are the mosquitos?

Very cool! (for those who may not know the area...Eielson is only about 20 miles from here.) I have not seen one mosquito in Fairbanks. It's been pretty rainy though. There were a few places in Canada on the drive up where they were of biblical proportions!
