Nice.

I have a Ruger Vacquero that has both .45LC and .45acp cylinders. In fact I don't think I've ever put the LC down it.

You'll need to look for a 3" S&W M547 round butt K frame. They are uncommon and rather expensive though. Only 6486 round butt M547s made. Only ~10,270 in all configurations made (1980-1985).

You could also look for a S&W M940 round butt J frame with 1.5", 2', or 3" barrel. These were made 1991-1998.

It's 30 years old. Yes , it can handle top loads. in .45 ACP. It's an N frame.

Here's another of my N frames, a S&W M29 chambered in a much more powerful cartridge than the .45 ACP (.44 Magnum).

Something along these lines?

I must confess to having a bit of a weakness for wheelies myself.

Yup, but since it ain't really a snub, GoodFella would probably be happier with a 940.

Re: .45 ACP Wheel Gun

Yeah - the K frame is likely bigger than he wants, although with a 3" barrel I think it's a comfortable gun to handle.

My own 547 was actually purchased new by my dad, but he didn't care much for the 9mm so I made a deal with him a few months later. That was many years ago. They weren't real popular at the time, and you could pick them up for well under a couple hundred. You just never know.

I shot a buddy's Vacquero with the .45 ACP cylinder awhile back. The 45 ACP in my 1911's is much gentler to shoot, IMO. I find, as my hands get a bit older, that I can shoot semi-autos with much more comfort. I did own and shoot an old Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag. flat top for many years but, as I no longer hunt, I sold it a couple of years ago. I shot my first deer with the 44 around 1971 or so.
