Paul, definitly keep us folks from Alabama in the loop. We will be there for you if you need any special requests. Maybe even can muster up a special bottle or two of un-labled, clear liquid in a mason jar. Always up for a rib run if you need it.

Re: Navydoc going to afghanistan

oh no!! God speed Paul... please take care of yourself and check in so we all know that you're safe and sound. We'll keep you in our prayers. Like Frank said, we're in! What ever you need. How about once we get an address we set up a mailing list or something. Maybe a spreadsheet could be created and each person has a different week... could have 2 or 3 a week if there's enough people. I'm sure Paul won't have any trouble giving any away.

Frank said to stay in the rear with the gear.

Well, it might last a couple months for YOUR smokes, but you know you'll need room for at least a few hundred cigars. I mean, you know you're gonna need plenty to hand out. Instead of handing out suckers, it'll be stogies.

Have a great Christmas and take care over there Paul. Hope you have good access to CS!

Re: Navydoc going to afghanistan

Count me in... err... D'oh..

Wow, i cant believe this, the Doc is the first bomber to target me, and here is is coming to visit me! What a guy! Talk about supporting the troops!

I know it looks like a lot when you are looking down the barrel at a year, but the longest part of the deployment so far was the pre mob, which you said you are doing at FT Bragg, so it might not be all that bad. Time over here goes pretty quickly because all of the days blend into one (there is a running joke compairing being here with the movie "groundhogs day"). I checked up and we do indeed have some Navy personnel coming in during the time frame you specified, do you know yet where you are going or what you will be doing here? If you are coming to Camp Phoenix, i am part of the Operations Center for the Brigade, so i will be able to help you out with any questions you might have.

Should we post an Afghanistan Herf notice in the Herfs forum?

Looking forward to meeting you,

LT

Navydoc, where in Afgan are you going? My son and son in law are both going there at the end of January. Son is combat engineer and son in law is in logistics, going to Kandahar. Good luck to you.

Re: Navydoc going to afghanistan

I'm in for whatever too...g'luck Paul...as a btw guys, it takes a little longer to get stuff sent over there to APO addresses, so if anyone sends any sticks you might consider throwing water pillows in with the stogies to keep them humidified on their way over...I seem to remember when I sent some stuff that it took 1-1/2 to 2 weeks to get there...the water pillows are pretty inexpensive and you should be able to find them at your cigar stores or online...

Re: Navydoc going to afghanistan

I'm down with some supplies as well. Never made it to the big sandbox, but I've done my fair share of deployments and know how important the niceties from home are. Kind of makes me mad that I was unable to make it to the Army/Navy game herf now. Maybe there'll still be another I can make it to before you ship out.

Cheers!!
Steve

Since he can only take a limited weight with him, how about an organized replenish fund?
