Re: Tobacco Saving Lives???

I just knew that God must have made the tobacco plant for something other than smoking! I just wasn't sure why.

Re: Tobacco Saving Lives???

My Dad was born in 1917 on a farm in N. Missouri. He told me that if you got a cut while working in the fields, they would bind it up with a chaw of chewing tobacco & go back to work (if it wasn't an overly serious injury). The chewing tobacco had astringent & anti-bacterial qualities. It kills tapeworms too.

I could have lived the rest of my natural life not knowing that.... ewwwwwww. Of course, I'm wondering how you get it to the tapeworms since tobacco is considered poisonous when ingested via mastication. Tobacco suppositories?

Yeah as mentioned in another thread, my momma made a paste of Tareyton 100's and mississippi mud to cover the 5 or 6 hornet stings at got one time while chasing a chameleon (American anole) into a palmetto. big mistake. I would think wetted tobacco leaf would work better than overprocessed R&J filler but what the hey. Never forgot she did that for me.

Wouldn't it make more sense for him to have just not made anthrax in the first place?
