Lookin' for some Reggae...
I have a friend that just came back from Jamaica and he brought back a CD of reggae music. I was actually surprised how much I liked this disc and figured I may need to pick some up. Only problem is as much as I know about metal music that is exactly how much I DON'T know about reggae.
Any gorillas out there into this type of music want to put a disc of MP3's together for me? I am willing to pay pay you back with some smokes if you like for your time and trouble.... Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Re: Lookin' for some Reggae...
Roots or Dancehall?
I have *some* dancehall if you want, but if you're looking for Roots Reggae (traditional Bob Marley-type stuff) I don't have any unfortunately. |

Steel pulse is kind of old school style. Buju banton, bob marley, barington levy, Damian marley I really like.

Re: Lookin' for some Reggae...
when you say reggae, what exactly are you looking for? there are a number of styles of music that are reggae based, examples include dancehall, rocksteady, ska etc. I have a ton of Bob Marley if that's what you would like. For me, Bob is reggae, but there is a ton of other stuff out there new and old that falls under the category of reggae.

Re: Lookin' for some Reggae...
PM me your address and then go on line and seek out "GROUNDATION" awesome reggae band out of the bay area. My cousin plays sax. Any way you can listen to some short cuts and if you like them I can facilitate the rest.

Check out Alpha Blondy. he sings in like 8 different languages and is wildly popular in just about every country but the US. I think he's from Ivory Coast Africa, but know he rides apon de riddim like a lizzard pon limb.

Re: Lookin' for some Reggae...
See...I didn't even know there was that many distinct genres within reggae. I have of course heard Bob Marley and to a lesser extent Ziggy but that is all (and really not a lot of that).
Thanks fellas...

Re: Lookin' for some Reggae...
Some others I'd recommend that haven't been mentioned yet: Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Culture, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru. Check out Slacker.com, they have a reggae station(under international).
