I thought this one was closed back a few months ago. But as I was searching through some old posts, I found this one open. So I just wanted to see if political threads were ok again post-election. The sticky is still up, but this one's still alive. Just bumped it out of curiosity.

It is not clear to me how a thread, let alone a political one, can be "civil" when the premise (title) includes name calling

It has been my experience that name calling usually indicates the decline of constructive conversation and marks it's demise. But I am willing to see how this goes.

Uh oh. Im already beginning to regret my decision.

Mods will be watching all political threads -very- closely and if they cant remain civil and respectful they will be turned off. I am willing to make a leap of faith here and see where it takes us. I hope I dont regret it.

FYI I am circling back with the mod team and ultimately I am leaving the decision to them as to whether we should try allowing political discourse again. Apparently in the past conversation of a political nature have tended to get completely out of hand and cause a great deal of work and consternation for the mod team.

I am closing this thread right now - and will only reopen it with an announcement if the mod team decision is to give it another go.
