I have never been a big mccain guy, mainly because i consider him too liberal and for restricting my rights, (examples include being originally against the great bush tax cuts that greatly benefited those in the middle such as myself, his horrible campaign finance reform that strips us of our 1st amendment rights, and his constant pandering to the left and the press by opposing the president when it helped no one but himself) Now however I find myself with no option but to vote for him because Obama is just plain incompetent and scary, Jimmy Carter scary. I'm not sure what you consider torture, if waterboarding and sleep deprivation are torture to you, than I have to respectfully disagree. When you are dealing with zealots who obviously have no respect for human lives who they deem to be infidels, then I have no problem with such measures being taken in order to secure our safety. You can in my opinion debate the effectiveness of such procedures, but I don't deem them to be inhumane, amoral, or cruel and unusual punishment.

Back to the original topic... I would have voted for mcCain in 2000 without a second thought. He would have been a far better president than Bush IMHO. For this election he seems to have changed his beliefs to fit with the republican mainstream. It saddens me to see this because I even though I am a democrat I am not a big fan of Obama, too much rhetoric and not enough substance for me. Anyways I haven't decided who I will vote for yet, but I am not a big fan of the options out there. Just a few months ago I was actually happy with the choices this year. I started looking into the stated positions and now I feel like I am backing into the corner of the lesser of two evils. No matter who wins I am having a hard time believing that America will not lose.
