I wounder how long it will be till Apple offers this feature. It seems like a wonderful idea.

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod

My girlfriend bought me a 30G Zune for my bday. I had a 2G IPOD Nano before that but it was full and she picked up the hint, how observant.

I prefer the Zune over the Nano. Many more features than my Nano such as radio, videos, zune to zune sharing, and just better overall features that come with it. It's not just a plain white background you can put a pic on it or use a pre set picture etc.

However, the bigger Ipods could have different features than the Nano.

Zune works basically the same as iTunes too. I download music from the net or from CD's I own and put them on there. NO subscription needed for that. I also put a few of my favorite tv shows and Music videos on there such as the South Park Warcraft episode. Mostly did this just to say I had a video on there.

Either way both should be a good choice, but the Zune has my vote

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod

I was in the anti Ipod camp for a while. Then I got my wife's hand-me-down nano. The Ipod user interface is pretty nice and intuitive. Once I figured out the nuances of Itunes (like not copyig everything to the itunes folder or trying to sync the entire library), I kinda like the Ipod.

Enough that I just bought a G3 Iphone.

I used to have a 20g iPod that sits in my glovebox hooked up to my car. After they came out I was obsessed with finding all the albums by all the artists I liked and filling it up. Then I hit the shuffle button for 10 minutes before I found a song I wanted to listen to. In my opinion if she is not crazy about her audio, you can get a no name Best Buy brand 2g mp3 player for about 50$. Its got a small, easy to use screen with an FM radio and good (enough) sound quality.

Well a 1g ipod is $50 and a 2g is $70.

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod

We've had 4 IPODs at my house. My 12 year old left hers in a pocket and it got washed (r.i.p 1st gen shuffle). My wife dropped her shuffle (r.i.p 2nd gen shuffle). I tossed my NANO onto a desk and now it's r.i.p.

The newest NANO is still going.

Does anyone make an MP3 player that can take moderate abuse?

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod

I've had an Ipod Classic 80 gig for about a year and I just like the interface better than any of the others. Also have a Creative Zen Vision M that actually has better sound and video quality(and you can barely tell the difference) but the interface sux. The Zune is nice to. I really looked hard and researched before I bought the Ipod. Simply liked the feel and interface better than the others. I buy very few songs because most of my music is off my cds. So drm isn't really a factor to me. Personal choice to me. I'm not gonna bang on any of the other companies because its futile. People like what they like. When they spend a lot of dough on something they tend to defend it with more passion.

Its not a Sansa for sure, grandson went thru two in 6 months, so we bought him a cheapo off the rack at wallymart for 20 bux and it took a beating and was still working till he lost it on field trip last year. He doesn't have a MP3 player anymore.

I have this thing.

IMO for 40 bucks you can't go wrong. Its a USB connection that easy to use. Just drag and drop your files. The battery time is ridiculous. I used it for 3-4 hours a day and the battery would last a week and a half. All you have to do is leave it on the USB cable to re-charge it.

Great so far (8 months). Would like more storage, but eh...it does the job.

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod

I've had six or seven iPods and the only thing better than an iPod is the iPhone. Using a program called Simplify Media, I can stream my entire iTunes library at home to my phone at any time. I also have a few internet radio apps that give me thousands of music options. I doesn't matter how many gigs you have on the iPhone when you can link to 100s of gigs at home.
