Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod
I have a Phillips Go Gear and it does the job for me. Never had an Ipod, so don't know what's better. I know the Phillips doesn't have anywhere near the acessories that the Ipods do, but I have been quite happy w/ what I've got.

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod
I picked up a Cowan D2 w/ 16G storage (also accepts external card) earlier this year. I'm not an audiophile by any means, and don't have a lot of opportunity to use a player, but I wanted something to hold a decent amount of music and had good sound. I also wanted good battery life. This player was rated well for audio quality. It has flash memory, and does not drain a battery as much, and does not have a hard drive to give problems. It has a pretty decent sized screen (2.5" I believe), and you can watch a movie on it, if you were stuck on a plane and your eyes could take it
. It works well with many file types of media files, and is easy to put stuff on or off in Windows Explorer. The battery last a very long time. It also does well with audio books. I've used it while mowing the yard, but that's about it so far, so I can't give a very experienced review. So far though, I like it. The buds that come with it are not up to the audio quality of the player and I did pick up another pair for it. |

Re: In your opinion anything better the Ipod
I have had a Creative Zen Vision:M for about 2 years and really like it. My wife has a flash Zen and she likes it. Very good for the price in my opinion.

2. In terms of interface Ipod is really hard to beat. I have used almost everything but Zune. Zune I haven't used because the first time I wanted to try it in the store the interface sucked and I didn't like the design. In terms of features Ipod is easily beaten by the competition, no question. In terms of sound it is beaten at least in my very audiophile ears (not kidding here) by Sandisk and Sony, most of all Sony. Most reviewers agree on Sony having the best sound, too, if that means something to you. Unfortunately Sony is basically as expensive as Ipod and the user interface is not great. I do have a 5G 60GB Video Ipod. I use it mostly in the car or when traveling on the plane. I am not quite satisfied with its sound although I use exclusively 320kbps files i.e. highest quality. So this is the Ipod that was supposed to have the best sound (generation 6 has different dac) and I use high quality files but the sound is still not up there. I'd be willing to pay $500 for a 160GB Ipod that sounds as good or better than the Sony gear but it doesn't exist. Till |
