All kidding aside, They were saying that Ike will flip back and forth between a 3 and a 4. Hopefully this will hook in another direction. But at the very least, Keep it away from my Family and Friends.

Prep and pack time for me. Don't think my place can take a strong 3, let alone a 4.

Well, I guess today is your lucky day then Brother

Fonts can be opened with Font Book - application. If you have 10.3, it is located in your Applications folder.

You can see the charachter map on the menu bar. Go to System Preferences, in there to International > Input Menu. Select in that all the layouts you want to use (e.g. US, Italian PRO), and select "Charachter Palette". Then you will see a small flag on your menubar to indicate your keyboard layout; scrolling down from the flag you will see charachter palette, and if you clikc on that it opens a new window.

Furthermore, many letters like ãñäõéáóèàò etc have a fast shortcut to be done, alt-something, so alt-u and then the letter for üäö etc, alt-n for ñõã, alt-e for éáó, alt-` for àèò and so on.

Have fun Bro

I use this site mainly

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shiplocations.phtml

has hurricane tracker, but mainly use it to see where my ship is at.

Carlos, a couple of things to try, hold down alt and press 0241, the other is hold down coontrol + shift and press n + tilde at the same time-this is for word.

Re: South Florida/East Coast Florida - our turn to prepare for IKE

NOA is really ticking me off with Ike.
For some reason, rather than normal updates every three hours (8, 11, 2, 5, etc), they are going every six.
That darn thing is close enough that they should be on a three hour update.
The 8 am one never came out so we have to wait until 11.

Folks in South Florida prepping at the gas station this morning.

I don't want to start hysteria but do want to warn BOTLs in South Florida of what I heard last night. Through supposedly good source, perhaps attributed to the shutdown in the gulf for Gustov, they are terribly low in supply of fuel in South Florida's Ft. Lauderdale Port. They don't think they will have enough through Tuesday if there is a rush at the pumps.

Go fill up.

Just realized.......Josephine is already the 10th named storm this year.
We are only half way through the season and only barely touching the peak.
Yikes!!!

If your home was built after Hurricane Andrew and the building code changes that were put into effect as a result, your home will likely withstand a cat 3. After Ivan you could walk through my neighborhood and tell what houses were built with post Andrew codes. It was that obvious.

No doubt. I agree.
He will however possibly sustain quite some damage.
At minimum, significant roof damage if shingles and quite a bit of damage (although less) if tiles.
Wilma left my house with $60K worth of damage and she was supposedly a strong 2 with gusts of a 3 when she passed me, after cutting across the state to come over to me. Most of it was a tile roof, a screen enclosure and a Euro tile patio damaged by the collapsing enclosure and tiles that fell off the roof.

Mad rush at the pumps.
All stations in my town are a mess with lines.
Just got back from filling up a couple of extra containers.
I now have 20 gallons spare for my two generators.

From what I've been reading it's supposed to hit FL as a Cat. 2, so hopefully it isn't too bad. Regardless, everyone stay safe.

Man I hope you are right.
Too early to tell but not too early to have a plan.

Hey - if your house is built to code it can withstand 150 MPH, ~cat 5. The only thing you have to worry about is 60 MPH coconuts and loss of power. A few years back we didn't have power for 8 days and I lost a few dozen lobsters I had in the freezer.

Skip,
The problem is that what they consider "can withstand" means that the cinder blocks will remain.

Note the latest update - looks like Andrew path. I hope it keeps turning south cause I'm WAY up in Juno.
