Liquid Cooling?
Has anyone ever installed a Liquid Cooling system into their PC? If so how hard is it and do you recommend any systems that I can use with my Dell XPS 710?
Thank you |

Re: Liquid Cooling?
Yes I have
I took it out last year before I went college though and sold all the parts. The system I used was mostly from dangerden (http://www.dangerden.com/) except my CPU block, which was Swiftech. Best advice I can give you is go all out, because you will always want bigger and better, LEAK TEST LEAK TEST LEAK TEST FOR AT LEAST 24HRS! I was impatient one time and did it for about an hour and the next day I had a nice puddle on my 7800GTX (which still lives, but artifacts a lot). Make sure you use only distilled water, and I recommend a 90/10 mix with antifreeze and a drop or two of iodine. Test for leaks every day in the first week because the tubing will settle and compress, which could cause it to leak. Let me know if you need anymore help

Re: Liquid Cooling?
Current PC is liquid cooled (cooler master). Works good but fan is loud as hell for the "radiator block reservoir". Like previously posted, be sure to leaktest first.

Re: Liquid Cooling?
I put together one for a friend a good while back, before there was much in the way of actual complete kits. A fair amount of the stuff was custom made and there were only a few websites that covered extreme cooling. Leak-testing was a real priority in those days for sure and no matter how far you went in plumbing that sucker, there was always a small worry that at any moment your computer might just start leaking. I'd wager that the new turnkey kits would give you greater peace of mind, but as noted, I'd leak-test well.
Make sure you have top flight RAM and and BIOS that will allow you to take advantage of the additional cooling capacity. |

Re: Liquid Cooling?
I did this a long time ago and used all Danger Den parts. The Tygon tubing is the way to go. If you are making your own it's very important to minimize right angles as they reduce the flow. It takes time to get it right and it really is a pain in the ass. If you are going to do it, do it right and get the best.

Re: Liquid Cooling?
That stuff is like $100 a gallon. (or so I've heard) And you have to keep changing it because once it becomes impure, it will start to conduct.
