Another method to try is to freeze the drive. Cool it in the coldest freezer you have or if you have electronics cooler (in a can) spray the drive. Sometimes the change in temp contracts bad circuitry and makes it work again. If that fails, use a heat gun on the drive. You can try a blow dryer, but a heat gun works better as they get hotter. Again expansion/contraction sometimes renders them useful for a period of time.
