The key is to make money but still act like a Bum.

Re: Anybody Seen Or Heard From SeanGar ??

Yo guys,

I'm in Venezuela with my wife for 3 weeks vacation and I have no internet connection at her home. I have to come to a hotel and use their wireless in the lobby without attracting attention. This is the first time I could log in since we've been here.

The return trip is complicated by the fact that the only bridge to the Caracas airport is falling down and closed. We managed to get tickets from Valencia (Annie's home) to Caracas the day before but as yet no place to stay that night. We may end up drinking rum in the airport all night. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Observations on Venezuela:

1. Gas is cheap. How does 12 cents a gallon grab you?

2. Rum is cheap. You can get a nice bottle under 3 bucks per 750ml. Great rum is 10-15 bucks.

3. People drive like maniacs and they have no laws restricting jalopys from driving down the interstate (equivalent) with no lights at 30 mph.

4. Castro ...er .. Chavez is a communist punk.

5. Food is great and cheap based on US prices. You can eat a nice meal and have a couple of beers each for 7 bucks easily. Wine is relatively expensive though. Meat is great here and there are nice bakeries everywhere.

6. Not much in the way of cigars here. The Cuban connections don't seem to extend to cigars. I had one Venezualian cigar that was pretty good but there are no cigar shops so finding a box to bring back is next to impossible unless I am in the east of the country where they are made.

More when I get back in the USA by the weekend.

Ciao all.

But Sean, how does it compare to the delicacy that is Cuban meat??? I hear Dave is building a lil' smokehouse in his yard to store his stash.
