9/11 day of remembrance

Many individuals I have encountered over the years have seemed to have forgotten that 9/11 is no longer any regular old day. It is another day that will go down in history as 'A DAY OF INFAMY'. Forever until history ceases to exist will this day never be forgotten. May our children know what many endured and are enduring. May their children's children know.

This country was born from tradition, respect and knowledge. At the same time this country was born from bloodshed.

Please remember those who have have given up their lives, willingly and unwillingly, for the freedom of this country. May those who respect freedom and cherish it know and savor the taste. We never know when it might be lost. Until that day we will defend it with blood, sweat, and tears.

If you feel offended by the following statement I am about to make, please don't. Keep in mind that they are people out there who are hypocritical in their state of mind.

"WE ,THE UNWANTED, DO THE UNTHINKABLE FOR THE UNGRATEFUL"

If I may ask all to just take 1 minute out of your day and remember all who have given their life to make our great country even greater.

Jay
May you all have a blessed day...

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

"UNWANTED"??

Possibly by the madmen who would prefer to wage war on the defensless.

I will never forget where I was, or what I was doing when a group of bloodthirsty murderers decided to bring terror to our home, and harm so many innocents. Our lives change forever. One thing didn't change though. The thousands of men & women who would step up and come to the defense of freedom were still there. Still willing to draw a line in the sand.

A heartfelt thank you to you and all of those who fight alongside you.

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

You would be surprised how many people back in the states despie our very presence or existance. I try to make sure that I remind them every time I meet one how their freedom is due to others before them and how grateful they should be. Not once has it ever turned physical. Words can be demeaning enough.

Not to get off subject though...I apologize.

I am one American and I know many many others that thank God everyday for the men and women who stand in the way of those who would destroy freedom.

God bless you, keep you safe and we thank you for your service.

I too remember where I was, and I'll never forget those moments. I'll never forget watching the TV footage with my 4 year old son, and trying to answer his questions on what he was seeing.

I will always remember this day. I want to thank each of you, every man and woman in military service for our country. Thank you for all you do, all you've done, and all the sacrifices you've made.

It's your thread Jay - hard to see how it's off topic.

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

I sent a note home today to my family, and it said this, in part:

Quote:
Tonight we will attend a ceremony to remember the events and people lost on 9/11. We don't need a special day for this; none of us will ever forget and we remember every day why we are here. Many of the New York National Guardsman that are here in Afghanistan right now responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center. That day changed the lives of so many of us, and the sacrifices that our service men and women and you folks back home continue to go on because of it. Don't let the "support our troops, bring them home" people kid you, we know exactly what we are doing and why. Each and every one of us is a volunteer.
Thank you all for your support. As Jay says, there are plenty of people back home that honestly believe we, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that are fighting this fight shouldn't be here.

I spent two weeks at the Red Zone (Ground Zero) after 9/11.

I would rather be here, away from my wife and the comforts of home, than have to do that again.

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

That gruesome day was the first thing I thought of when this month rolled around and especially this morning.

The loved ones we lost that day, though I cannot see them or name them individually, will forever be in my memory. I'm blessed to be alive, thankful to be an American, grateful for all of the men and women who have fought for our freedom and for those that are fighting to preserve it, and I'm proud to call this country home and share it with most of you and your families. It's a day to look back and remember and be mournful for what we have lost, but it's also a time to smile and hold our head high, to be proud because we have not faltered. We stood our ground and we remain strong - together. Even though massive structures toppled to the ground, I truly believe they only strengthened our foundation as a nation. The buildings no longer stand but as a people - we do - closer and more resolute than ever.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families impacted on that day. I will ALWAYS remember and as long as I have breath in my body - the story will be told.

God bless our men in women in uniform ... from the combat soldier to our local fire & police: and everyone in between.

My hope this day is that all of you overseas take heart in the fact the vast majority of us support you. Our politics may differ. Some support the war effort. Others do not. But most of us support those who put their lives on the line every single day. The vocal minority will always scream for attention, but their misguided sense of outrage is protected by the very people they rail against. And that's why I am proud to be an American.

Keep safe, and God bless.

Ditto. I remember my daughter who was around the same age asking "where is that?". She was truly fearful that is was somewhere close by. While it was some 500 miles away... I can tell you, every honorable Canadian felt your pain and sorrow like it was happening next door.

God Bless America - the families of those affected - and those working to protect us.

Words don't do justice to the sacrifices you make, so I will simply say...

Thank you.

Sad day indeed, one that should never be forgotten. My thanks also to all those who are currently on the front lines (wherever that may be), working to prevent another day like that, working to protect America.

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

In this fight against an idealogy, we fight an enemy that has no ground to defend, no civilians to protect, no monuments to guard, no political office to hold, no economy to bolster. All they have is hatred and oppression. As such we cannot attack their infrastructure, their logistics or their command structure. What we must do is hunt them down and kill them all, until there are none left to continue their pathetic little mouse-fart of a jihad.

They have no use of democracy or free-market economy? Fine. Then let them know fear. Let them know that to raise arms against us, or to assist that effort will result in them being killed in a most violent and precise military manner.

Re: 9/11 day of remembrance

That was the one of the worsts days for me since I was stationed in LI at a recruiting command. We didn't lose any of our Marines but saw too much carnage on the home front.
