Frampton Comes Alive

I downloaded Frampton Comes Alive onto my MP3 player a few nights ago, and am listening to it now for the first time in a loooong time. Just as good as it was when I was about 15 years old. A rock & roll classic.

Hard to believe that was about 30 years ago. What happened??

Do you think you will buy the Sgt. Pepper movie on DVD?

Re: Frampton Comes Alive

My Dad said that Frampton was probably his favorite concert ever. So far mine has got to be either Aerosmith in 2003 or Van Halen(w/ hagar). Even though with Roth(both times) I got to hear Dance the Night Away. Oh, actually both Journey concerts with Steve Augeri(definitely the arena one though, were amazing!). Might have to check out STEELY DAN(yep, Steely Dan is NOW touring) with my Dad.

Excellent CD. I bought a couple of songs off it on itunes. I also purchased Peter Framton: Greatest Hits mainly for "Do you feel like I do?".

I saw Frampton at Anaheim Stadium in July of 1976. Yes was the main attraction. Gary Wright also performed that day.

As far as the best concert, I must say Led Zeppelin in 1971 at Budokan in Tokyo.

Steely Dan are phenomenal. If your dad will take you, don't miss the chance. Fagen and Becker are great writers/musicians, and they tour with top notch musicians. I'm envious.

Re: Frampton Comes Alive

I saw Frampton do this album "live" back when I was in college. 'bout 1976. It sounded just like the album. The reason the sound was so good is the the FOH engineer didn't have the sound so loud that it blew out the space we were in. It still was one of the best sounding concerts I have ever been to. Sammy Hagar was the opening act.

Re: Frampton Comes Alive

Not one to brag about being "old", but I saw Peter Frampton a few times in 1970 - 1971 when he was still with Humble Pie!!

After he left and went solo I saw him a bunch of times and still to this day enjoy listening to him. I recall 2 great solo shows of his PRIOR to his Frampton Comes Alive album when he was the opening act for Poco and The Outlaws and another for The Faces.

Saw him last year here at the Florida Theatre and he still rocked the place. And can he ever still play that Les Paul!!

Yeah us old guys have quite a collection of vinyl. I think my stack is about 6' long. I am kinda glad that I hear vinyl is making a comeback.

Re: Frampton Comes Alive

Not old enough to have seen his 70's shows, but this is one of my all time favorite live albums. The special edition 2 disc set w/ bonus tunes that came out a few years back is just awesome.

Those Anaheim concerts in the mid 70's were the best. $10.00 for a general admission ticket that got you 4-5 bands and an all day, all night show. The ticket, five bucks for food and a five finger lid and you were good to go.

I've got Frampton Comes Alive on my IPOD. It's great music for a warm summer afternoon with the sunroof open driving home from work. It kind of evens you out.
