Re: What was your favorite job?
I have had many jobs over the last 25+ years but I think my favorite one was doing commercial pest control in the NY/NJ area. I got to kill rats, roaches, etc. in some cool places. I got to service Giants Stadium, Radio City Music Hall, Citi-Corp Center, Bloomingdales, Sac's 5th Ave., The Meadowlands Race Track and many other cool places. We pretty much had free reign of these places. Most of the time there was no one around when we would go in, so we had a blast. We partied on roof of Citi-Corp, a 55 story building in the heart of Downtown Manhattan. We got to stand on the stage at Radio City, no practice required.
The chef at Bloomingdales would make us Lox and bagel sandwhiches with a half pound of Lox at $45.00 at pound. I used to tell people when they asked what I did for a living that I was licensed to kill in 3 States.

Re: What was your favorite job?
Between 19 and 20 I was the dock manager on a boat dock on Ogden Slip in Chicago. Basically a yacht valet. Amazing tips and people always handing you drinks and many invites to various things from all the obsurdly rich. You'd be amazed how many people own boats and host swinger partys on lake Michigan in Chicago. I actually caught a tan, hung out on yachts, got to smoke cigars and had occasional drinks. What beats that??

Re: What was your favorite job?
Gotta say that my current job is by far my favorite - copywriter for a cigar retailer (Famous). I've worked as a cook, in a warehouse, selling sub-prime mortgages (lucrative, but left me a pauper in the soul) and advertisements.
None of those even compare to what I'm doing now ![]() |

Re: What was your favorite job?
My favorite job was being a full-time student...I used my GI bill, went to a state university, and lived at home...so I was essentially getting paid for it!

Re: What was your favorite job?
Well there's a few for me.
Right now I tinker with computers and software all day which is pretty darn fun sometimes and the pay rules, plus I have time to surf the interweb and research cigars/electronic/cars, etc. Back in college I Co-ran a computer camp that was held at different college campuses. Living in the dorms for free during summer, and having free food, weekends and evenings off and awesome pay was nice. WOrking with smart good looking college girls was the kicker. Best 2 summers of my life.

Re: What was your favorite job?
I worked in radio for several years in small markets in NC as a DJ and music director, while in my teens and twenties. It was $200 a week plus all the records I could take home, but man, did I have fun! I was a mini-celebrity with the homework crowd for a long stretch. I absolutely loved that period of my life and wouldn't hesitate to go back to radio if money were no object. There were a few "Play Misty for Me" moments that took the sheen off the good times though. Any of you old radio dogs or Eastwood fans know what I mean.
I played in bands quite a bit during that period too, which brought way more fun than money. Once while I was between full-time radio gigs I survived by playing in a country band, working part time at a country station (midnignt-6am ), and collecting unemployment. The best of times and the worst of times. These days I'm in marketing and thus I still have a creative outlet, but the stress level can go thru the roof sometimes.

Re: What was your favorite job?
Another vote for lifeguarding for two summers in high school. One pool was the local country club with hot, rich chicks. Lots of partying and got free meals from the cook staff. Those were the days!

Re: What was your favorite job?
My best jobs were the summer jobs I had in college. One year I ran deliveries for a hospital. Showed up at the warehouse in the morning, drove on the truck to the hospital, then spent the morning tooling around in a golf cart and trailer to make my deliveries. I was usually done by lunch time but the truck didn't come back to get me until around 4PM. Spent the rest of the day building obstacle courses for my golf cart in the loading dock area and flirting with the pharmacists. Now that was a killer job.

Re: What was your favorite job?
working on the sod/cotton farm. Work all day in the hot summer sun, when sky gets red and the sun goes down, the country boys head to town, we drink some beer and chase some girls, head back home to shoot some squirrels. Head to bed just to get up, thats the kinda work I like to rock.

Re: What was your favorite job?
I was an assistant golf pro for a little over two years. Looking back that was the most fun job I had. At the time the pressure to keep my golf game in tact took alot of the fun out of it. I have NO natural athletic ability. I felt like a local celebrity in the small town the golf club was located. Free food and drinks almost everywhere I went. Being greeted with "hey pro" everywhere was nice too. Payed like CRAP though.

Re: What was your favorite job?
my favorite job is what I've been doing for the past 20 years, which is a IT Consultant. I've met and worked with many good people, made and still make lots of $$ in order to enjoy life to it's fullest. I'm suppose to retire in 2 years but probably won't want to because I like what I do, so I might simply semi-retire and work 6 months out fo the year. I have 2 expensive hobbies, Bass tournament fishing and of course great cigars.....
