Needless to say that uninsured motorist car will never start again. But that's Philadelphia for you.

This is an interesting read.

I'd like to know what others think of the driving habits of some of the people posting in this thread.

Of course, I'm sure everyone complaining in here is the most courteous driver in the world, never gives anyone the finger, never speeds through a neighborhood, never cuts anyone off, never speeds on the highway, never tries to beat the light, never blocks the box........

Two sides to every story guys.

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

1. Set up a lawn chair in your driveway.

2. Find a ball about the size of a basketball that you don't care too much about.

3. Sit in a chair with the ball and light up a stogie.

4. When an obviously speeding car is coming down the street, toss the ball into the street in front of them.

5. If they slam on the brakes, stand up and give them a serious look. If they stop and say something, suggest that they slow down. If they get chippy, invite them over to get their ass whooped (of course, this means you'll have to do it, which I assume you can and will). If they don't even slow down, get another ball.

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

I speed on the highway. I don't if I am in a neighborhood, mine or not. If there is a chance that kids or dumb people may coming running out in the street (not to say that can't run out in to the highway) I am not going to be speeding. But I do speed on the highway. I got a $250 ticket to show for that once. I was very lucky to not go to jail, very lucky.

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

I don't know if your town would fine you for posting a sign, alot of place would. No one even needs to know who put it, in the worst case they take it away.
I'd hang up a sign on a pole saying some thing like "Franky RIP" "Killed by MVA 9/19/2008" Please Drive Saftly" And put some flowers next to it.
Just something that hit my mind right now.

I live in a nice, quiet neighborhood (25mph limit) where everyone has little kids playing outside and one of these days some a-hole is going to kill someone.

I've asked the cops to hang out, but they are useless and sit in plain view to slow down people only when they are there (which is 5 minutes a month). I inquired into speed bumps but the town refuses, and if I add my own, they said they would rip them out.

One of these days I'm going to catch someone and my temper will get the best of me and I might literally kill one of these dumbasses. Seriously, I'll snap and end up in jail.

I had to calm down with a drink and Taboo LR Maduro (very good btw). Any ideas on my options outside of bringing my 38 with me on walks?

..and even if the driver doesn't crash, your kids might get the living tar beat out of them. Bad idea.

One of the members of my motorcycle group is a dispatcher for the Washington State Patrol. A couple of summers ago, they were running a speed trap on I-90 in eastern Washington from an airplane and not getting one bite. Later, an officer found a hand-lettered sign a few miles before the patrol area that said, "Speed Trap Ahead". I wonder if such a sign would work in your neighborhood?

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

How about being lucky you didn't get killed. I once heard a guy with a bunch of scars on his neck and shoulder brag how he sped on 120 in a 55 zone & woke up in the Hospital after being in a coma.

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

I know I was lucky. When it happening I was in Wyoming which up until a few months before that I believe had no speed limit on the I-80. I do know I was very lucky. He asked (the State Trooper) how fast I was going and I really didn't know. On the ticket it said 140. But yes I was very lucky. I don't drive like that now. I may do 10 over the speedlimit if lanes are free and open but thats it. All this happened in 99. I have learned alot since then. I relize now how stupid I was for speeding like that.

Re: Fast drivers in neighborhood

I find that people who drive fast tend to push the accelerator harder and that makes the vehicle go faster.
