RyJ help

Figured I would ask the professionals.

Friend of mine had this RyJ Cuban and is looking for a "comparable" RyJ that can be bought in the states. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The wrapper has "Romeo Y Julieta Habana Rodriguez Arguelles Y Ca" on it

Thanks in advance,

R

Re: RyJ help

Not gonna happen. You won't find a non-cuban RyJ that is comparable to a cuban RyJ.

Re: RyJ help

Actually he didn't say he wanted a "non-cuban".
He said he wanted a comparable cigar that he could buy in the states.
yuk yuk yuk

In all actuality.......
What he said "it ain't gonna happen"

Re: RyJ help

I don't believe any Legal RyJ is going to be comparable.
However, I will say that the RyJ Vintage line is a pretty tasty cigar.
Milder side of medium in strength, full of great flavor & balance.
Like a Habano? H3ll No. But very nice.

I tried one of the RyJ Habana Reserves (a Robusto) a couple of months ago, & that was an enjoyable smoke, also. Not as good as the Vintage, though. Medium strength, bit spicier. Reminded me of a lighter Partagas Spanish Rosado, if that's any help. Like a Habano?
Nope, not close.

Hope this helps at least a little.

Re: RyJ help

thanks.

I don't smoke enough RyJ's to know anything about them, he was just asking. I will let him know about the Vintage line. He tried a Reserva Real last night and could get but half way through the stick.

Again, any help/opinions will be appreciated.

No problem bro. You never know until you ask.
I don't care for the non-cuban RyJ but many folks here like them so tell your friend to check them all out. Never know, he may find his diamond in the rough.

At the risk of being redundant, none of the non-Cuban RyJs are going to be anything like the Cuban versions....none.

I enjoyed the vintage much more than the reserva real. fought my way through half the stick before rinsing my mouth out with a 5 liter keg of Heineken. (it's for the pain, I rarely touch the stuff).

Re: RyJ help

There is no connection between the Cuban and Non Cuban RyJ brands. They are merely related by having a similar name. Your friend will have just as much luck trying any of the hundreds of NC brands in the attempt to duplicate the Cuban flavor. Manufacturers have been trying to duplicate the island flavor for 45+ years without much success. Good luck in the search.

Re: RyJ help

I brought some cubans back into the US with no problem. My girlfriend also did that same. I didn't have a problem but i got a receipt for another brand and just took off my cuban lables and left the receipt next to them
