Lookin for a little fire bowl/ pit

I'm looking for something small that I can keep on my deck, or in the yard this fall. Nothin expensive either, just to give off some heat while I have a cigar outside during the fall, into the winter. I can't really get a feel for how big the cheap stuff is at target. I'd like to be able to fit one big log, or two in at a time to keep it burning for about an evening.

You guys recommend anything? I'd love to make one, but a welder is the next investment.

sounds goofy as heck, but find a used Weber kettle grill at a yard sale or on craigslist. Cut the aluminum legs as short as you want. When you want the fire out, put the lid on to save the wood for the next fire. If you don't want to use full sized logs, you could potentially use a smokey joe if you wanted to cut the wood to a closer dimension.

Done.

You can also use the landscape edging/retaining wall stones around it and build it up a bit for a semi permanent yard or patio installation.

I had a nice pit in the yard with bricks around it and a small retaining thing, but I didn't use it enough to justify mowing around it. I'm just lookin for something portable, but a weber grill is a really good idea. I'll have to compare prices and see where it stands with one of the cheap decorative ones.

Perfect. Craigslist hadn't crossed my mind for this type of thing.

The nice thing about using a weber type arrangement is that you know the quality of the bowl will hold up for a very very long time, and it can serve as a multi-tasker when you need it to. Good luck in your hunt for warmth.
