Any opinions on this set up?

I'm sick of moving my laptop around. I regret getting a 17" screen now, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'd like a docking station with an HDMI input, since my laptop has an output and i can run my cable TV through it.

Thinking about this monitor..

And this docking station.

Just wondering if you see any problems with either of them? I've read the reviews on both and they seem decent. With a docking station can I turn my laptop on and off through the station so I can just leave it closed?

We have docking stations here at working and I like them. Yeah once you dock it you should be able to power it up with it closed.

Thanks. I'll have to check that one out specifically when I go to the store tomorrow. Not that the salesmen know anything about it anyways.

With this one being the connection through the USB port I am assuming that you still have to have the lap top running along with the monitor. Check the docking station made by the manufacturer. This is why I think they are touting the 2-monitor solution.

If someone has this type please correct me. I am most familiar with the dell models that we have at work and they connect through a hard connection underneath the laptop.
