PRK Surgery

Hey Gorillas, i am having PRK surgery this Friday. It is an eye surgery similar to Lasik. Has anyone had this surgery before? Any thoughts. THis surgery has a longer recorvery time compared to lasik but the cornea retains its original strength.

My wife had it done about 3 years ago and has had good results thus far. The doctor said that PRK is safer, because their is less risk of infection due to the clean cut and regrowth. One BIG difference between Lasik and PRK is that the first few days after PRK sucks. My wife was very difficult to be around on day 2 and 3, due to the pain. Good luck!

Re: PRK Surgery

Had the LASEK done in '04.....then a PRK done to fine tune 'em in '05.

I was blind as a bat considering I needed BOTH surgeries.

I recommend it to ANYONE.

Re: PRK Surgery

I had LASIK, best thing that ever happened to me (don't tell my wife ) Scared the hell out of me though, but I went from poor eyesight to decent eyesight (could see the TV from 10 ft) in a few hrs, and 20/15 the next morning. No pain, no complications, no complaints.

Re: PRK Surgery

I had PRK done in '03. Painful at first because of the pupil dilation and sensitivity to light for first few days. You're trying to read everything possible. But after that it's pretty decent. Took about a week recovery time for me. Same thing about the halos around lights at night too.
