On a different note, one time, one of my daughters had to get a shot at the doctors (in the arm). After they gave her the shot she turned to get a shot in the other arm. Doc said she'd never seen that before!

Of course the next time we went she screamed incessantly, but I digress....

Ugh, that SUCKS. I had to hold my guy down once so they could TAKE A BLOOD SAMPLE... Yeah, not just a shot, but in-the-vein stuff. That was miserable. He was like a year old at the time. One of the worst experiences of my life. I'd rather lick a cheese grater until I have enough tongue for an omelet than do THAT again.

But fer real, he's gonna forget fast. You'll be golden in a day or two.

Try taking your 6 year old daughter to get her ears pierced (at her & her mother's insistence.) Watching that mutilation makes enduring shots a walk in the park.

Been there. Those little ones all seem to have that look down pat. First the joy, then the utter shock, then the fear, then the tears. It's been years sonce the last time I had to do it, but still remember that look like it was yesterday.

That's gotta be a bad feeling but not as bad a feeling if he got sick as a result of not getting the shots. He'll thank you later.

I took three shots in each arm, three days a week for the first six years of my life and I thank my parents for doing it. I was alergic to just about everything but today, I am alergic to nothing.

I can't imagine your son's doctor being the same one I kicked in the face around 49 years ago, but that would explain the doctor's caution.

I feel your pain. Not that I want to stir it up or anything but I still remember a vaccination scene from my early childhood when I was six or so.

This was a Tetanus shot in the butt. I was totally freaked out as I had never had a shot there. I was so scared. Oh, and I didn't mention that the guy who was suppose to give it to me was my father, while my mother tried to hold me down. I was throwing a major fit wiggling my legs like a mad man. They tried cajoling and bribing and scolding, nothing worked. Then at one point my father said "Ok, it's done." I say "What do you mean, it's done." He said he already gave me the injection. I didn't feel a thing! I can't imagine how he got the shot in given my agitation. A true master. I was totally embarrassed to have been such a wimp.

When I was 12 we had to get Yellow Fever vaccination before going to Africa. They told me it was a shot in the butt and that it would hurt a little. I said "Sure, no problem, go right ahead." The doc was very surprised at my courage. And so was I because it did sting quite a bit which is apparently due to the vaccine and not the injection technique.

Anyways, maybe a little bribery to have him forget will do the trick. And do give him a lot of praise for how brave he was, even if he wasn't.

I've been there and done that with my 16 month old. Nothing hurts worse that the pain you can see in their eyes when that needle pokes them. It breaks my heart when he gets his shots, but they're needed and Moose (Sean David) forgets the pain pretty quick. He does like the band-aids they put on his sores, though
