Jason, into each life a little rain must fall. Silver lining is that you now don't have to worry about chickening out on executing plan B.

Re: Redundant

Jason,
I agree with all the sentiment expressed in this thread. While the immediacy of the situation feels bad, take this opportunity to find another path along life's wonderful journey. Know that you have the love and support of a beautiful wife and children and that they will be there for you. That can be said, as well, for your BOTLs & SOTLs here in the jungle. Allow yourself the anger that no doubt accompanies the situation but stay strong and I am sure you will come out on top.

VERY sorry to hear of the setback... Unfortunately, the guys who WATCH others do all the work get golden parachutes... The guys who DO all the work get lead parachutes.

But take heart. The statisticians tell us that release from one job results in a move to a better, higher-paying position more often than not.

Keep the faith!

Re: Redundant

Sorry to hear about this Bro.

them x20

Take some time to reflect, get the finances squared away with the un-employment insurance. Lumpy has a point, no warning or anything like that....you might look into some dismissal without due cause, legal avenues.

and the horse they rode in on x20

ps -- and redundant my ass, you're not redundant

Re: Redundant

Sucks to hear, 'mano. You seem to be a pretty smart guy with skills that'll do what it takes to provide for his family, so I've got quite a bit of faith that this won't last long.

Good thoughts your way.

Why does like this happen to the good people? My guess is for a reason. Something better and more satisfing will come your way, jason. Keep your head up and keep pushing forward, I am sure all will be well.

Re: Redundant

Jason,

Ditto what others have said, but also this: Keep a close eye on your kids. They know how to live through adversity, that is, they simply don't let adversity rob them of the joy of living life. It never fails to amaze me how my 5 year old daughter reacts to problems. Whether sickness or scoldings, she bounces back. They are nothing more than a blip in her screen of the enjoyment of life. Watch them carefully and learn. Works for me.

Re: Redundant

Sorry to hear it Jason. Had the same thing happen to me mid January. I had been working there for 15 years. It scared the hell out of me at first, but you will get over that part. I have got some good leads for jobs and at places I would much rather work for then where I was. Like the others said, this will get better. I did not believe it at first myself, but they are correct. Sounds like you now have a great opportunity to get with a company that will respect your talents and skills now.

I had thought about that Hat, just don't know if it will support the family though.

Thank you everone for your kind words and support. Slept on it and still not happy, mixed emotions, anger, doubt... you know, the usual crap that goes with this stuff.
However it is time to go foward. Did thhink about the whole unfair dismissal thing, may have to ask someones advice on that. Other than that I'm not gonna dwell on it. Plan B.

Re: Redundant

Sorry to hear that Jason. What B.S. But look at it as an opportunity. I know several people who have been through this including myself and everyone has come out of it for the better. I'm sure you will do well.
