That's a complete bummer... sorry to hear that Jason... chin up, old bean, there'll be something better round the corner!

I am sorry to hear your news. Hold fast and keep your head up.

Best of luck to you man! I've never been confronted with this type of situation, but I often wonder what I would do.

Sorry to hear the news Jason. But I have a feeling that a bigger and brighter door is about to open for you. No matter what anyone does, it's impossible to keep a good man, such as yourself, down. Keep the faith and let us know if there's anything we can do.

Re: Redundant

Man. That flat out blows. No way to sugar coat it, but there is always another way to go.

My brother-in-law (and Svillekid's, too), worked for an industrial company in research and development and literally saved or made them several million dollars in a few short years with refinements of their manufacturing process and innovations (they kept the patents, too), all for a pretty lousy salary. He got squeezed out when he had three (could have even been four at the time) kids because of some horsesh*t company politics. Looked bad? Sure did, but not long after he got a job with higher pay. A short time later, another employer came around to double his salary, and a few years later, it happened again. He now is an independent, and lo and behold, a year or two ago he was paid to come help the very company that canned him in the first place with a problem their engineering staff couldn't seem to fix. Good thing for them that he is not vindictive. I probably would have been.

Moral to the story: Keep that head up my friend. What looks like a bad thing now can still turn out to be the best thing.

Re: Redundant

Jason, I don't need to tell you how bad this blows... really really sorry to hear this. I agree with everyone else, something better for you is waiting. Just keep your chin up bud, now you have the opportunity to do what you wanted to do.

Don't let them get away with it.. if there's anything you can do about it, do it! We've been going through this kind of job reductions for the past few years and if you're not in the production part of the business (where I am) then you're job is on the line every year! You can cut the tension with a knife at the end of each year.

If there is anything at all that we can do, we're there for you and your family. You can move to VA... we have alot of jobs available here now. We're all behind you Jason! You have our prayers and support!

Re: Redundant

Wow, Jason that is messed up. I went through the very same thing you're going through just a couple weeks ago. After 6 years of my blood, sweat, & no tears (I'm a dude. we don't cry) they told me I wasn't worth the full time spot. It was a nice way of them pushing me out the door for cheaper (but not skilled) labor. Now I'm starting a new job in a week or so with better pay and an actual chance to move up there. This will get better bro. Like some have said just take a few days to let this settle down a bit and then after that it's time to call in some favors. Just remember, DO NOT feel sorry for yourself & DO NOT sell yourself short either. I'll keep you & your family in my thoughts & prayers bro.

Jason, I can't say it any better than Anita just did. If there's is anything I can do feel free to ask. It's hard to walk down the street right now without stepping into a job (South Fla) here. Unfortunately you have to live with "restrictions" on a certain type of cigar. As usual we'd have ya covered in that area.

Man if I could work out how to get to the U.S. to work and live I think I would do it. Both Nicki and I have discussed it before and even investigated it. Seemed to bloody difficult to get in, but if ya have any advice I'm listening.
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about those "types of cigars", seems you guys can get them easier than I Especially those ones that profess to live in Canada

Re: Redundant

That really sucks dude. If you are as good at what you do as it sounds to me you will find a job and one that is better than what you had. Thoughts and prayers to you and you family.

Re: Redundant

Sorry to hear that Jason, it sounds like that company does not deserve a good, dedicated worker like yourself, take your skills and dedication somewhere else buddy, and remember that things happen for a reason, this could be your opportunity to climb up higher. Best of luck and wishes for you my friend.

My home is Canada for those who don't know and for those who do know, they'd better keep a tight lip!

These are several ways to get here and begin the process of Citizenship (if that's the road you want to take) One of them could be just applying for a work visa. After you get that, what happens next is really up to you. Some companies are willing to foot the bill on the visa if you show to them you're worth it. I'm more than sure you'd have no problem with that. Just start looking and applying over here (through the wonder of the ages, the internet) I think you'd be surprised by the amount of positive feedback you'd get. Now there are "other" ways to get in here. You could of course go through the lengthy process of Cuban citizenship and on it's completion get yourself a boat and head north. You will have to make it onto land as our "wet feet, dry land" policy is still in effect. It makes for a great cardio workout and it's also great television for us over here. It's almost like the olympics except afterwards you get no medal, Just political ******. Another fun way to get into the country is through our neighbor to the south. Mexico offers you more options on how to get in than almost any other country. I'd recommend you try through Californias borders as this will decrease your chances of getting apprehanded & shot. Of course work will be a problem for you if you choose that option. But, it can be a fun family adventure for you and what's more important than family? Well, whatever happens good luck!

Seriously, if you need people over here to reference to for anything we've got your back.

Re: Redundant

Jason, I really think that sucks, but you have a good outlook on things, and you will end up in a better place. You have a lot of friends rooting for yuo here, and obviously help if you ever need it.
