Yep, that's me.
Found out today at about 4: 20pm, it's Friday here and they send me a wild curve ball 40 minutes from knock off time. Here's your letter... see ya later. I have been working for this place for nearly 7 years, done anything I could for them and things I shouldn't have. Most times I was the brains behind a bunch of F@*ing misfits. The sheer fact that they didn't even know how to beging to deploy a CATV network with an operational and Clean return path in the beginning and that it was mostly my work that did so. The long hours I pulled some nights and everything else apparently means nothing now. I was only talking to Klugsie a few days ago about the predicament that our company was in. But the fact that they hired a new Tech just 2 weeks ago and turn around and show me the door smacks of something else. Anyway not much point in going on. My wife came home today and the kids were in the back of the car, Skylar was fast asleep as she had been at school and then her Auntie's for the afternoon. She was completely worn out. Zane was sitting in the back happy as Larry playing with his mothers cell phone. I went to get him out of the car and he held the phone up to my ear and said hello... hello... hello. I looked down at him and smiled, then my heart sank as I thought about our future...........

Re: Redundant
I don't know about Australia, but in the UK, it's illegal to hire someone to do your job if you've been made redundant... called pro-active dismaissal over here...
That's a complete bummer... sorry to hear that Jason... chin up, old bean, there'll be something better round the corner!

Re: Redundant
Crap man that sucks. I hear over and over again though how something like that is the catalyst to finding a much better position. Like Lumpy says, chin up, positive attitude and good luck finding a new and better position.

Re: Redundant
That absolutely blows, Jason! I am so sorry to hear that they are pulling that crap after the long tenure you had with the company. It is not unusual in the States, my company a perfect example, to assume a body is a body, and any body for less money is worth screwing the faithful. Many here only care about trying to find a soft place to land when it all blows up. I offer you my full support and best wishes for you and your family. Something better will be in your lap before you know it.

Re: Redundant
Sorry to hear about your temporary setback. Have faith, everything will be back on the square and level soon. Look to your brothers, when you need them, they will be there for you. As others have said, when one door shuts, another will open leading to a brighter future. If you need something I can help with do not hesitate for one second to ask Brother.

Re: Redundant
Jason, man I'm sorry. I've had that happen to me in the past. Could happen again anytime around where I work.
We're pulling for ya! I'm sure you'll turn it around.

Jason, so sorry to hear that. I'm sure, though, that you'll be able to make the best of it and wind up in a better position than where you started.

Re: Redundant
This really sucks!
Like my brother always told me, "all big companies are chicken$hit." It seems to be true. Perhaps you can do something with your hobby? I don't even know if it's a viable option.......just a thought.
