It's hard to feel sympathy someone dies doing something so risky, but if they didn't take such risks, we wouldn't get such footage or amazement. I guess it works out both ways? Well... the worst that can happen to me in this is that my browser crashes...

I was wondering how they landed too. They show the chute packs at the end opening.

Wingsuiting is 100% real. High school friend of my wife works for one of the big companies (North Face, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, can't remember) and does this - he has video of himself jumping - pretty amazing. Can't attest to the validity of this video, but the activity itself is valid.

There is talk of a show for Las Vegas being worked on where a guy in a wing suit will fly/glide/fall down hit a tube just right and slide to a stop.
This was the only article I could find close to what I was thinking I had read: http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/..._10011041.html I also watched a show on Jeb Corliss, mentioned in the article, and the guy is crazy. He kept saying he took up skydiving/base jumping because he was suicidal and figured if he lived he'd have a thrill if he died he didn't care, so you do have to be in a differant mind set to play these raindeer games. |
