You would be fine as long as you weren't near the actual fuel bundles or other sources. Water is the best shield againt radiation. The water has high concentrations of boron, so your eyes would definitely be burning. We used to use commercial divers to do work for us all the time The part that gets scary is that even though the water is highly filtered there are still particles that are of sub-micron size that can be extremely dangerous. You do not want these getting attached to a diver or ever cresting the top of the water due to the extreme amounts of radiation.
